Organising a gypsy costume for the long awaited staff party, may be a difficult task if you live a busy life. There are many people out there that find they have little to plan for such events. To think of a costume idea at 11th hour, find the right size of that costume and all the additional things that go with it can be time consuming, tiring and expensive. Fortunately, there are a couple great ways for you to get around that dilema and move on to the task at hand. With the gypsy costume comes the illusion of freedom without societal constraints - do what you wish, go where you wish. Creating a gypsy costume or a fortune teller costume can be real fun. Gypsies were earlier referred to as Roma and were constituted of members of loose nomadic who wandered through Europe during 15th and 16t centuries. They lived out of caravans. You can still find some gypsies in some parts of the world. Stories of gypsies swindling and stealing and operating beyond law circulated pretty fast amongst the people and this was a bit frightening for the law abiding people. The gypsy costume became hugely popular at Halloween parties because of its eerie ambience and also because gypsy women were linked to fortune telling. Gypsy women sported some sort of fortune telling "device" like crystal ball, tarot cards, palm reading or shells. Don't be surprised if you have guests waiting on you to read their palms or tarot cards or crystal ball, for you to look into their future. The gypsy costume is symbolized by vibrant colored skirts and blouses worn with heavy and big accessories, long black wavy hair embellished with trinkets and beads. It is quite easy to make or get a gypsy costume. You will need long flowing skirt in colors like black, red, a contrast peasant style shirt in white, black vest with front lace, stockings and shoes in black color, a short overskirt or apron also colored brightly and a two or three inch wide headband. You can create your own gypsy costume at home with a little imagination, a little time and lots of shopping. Gypsy clothing patterns are easily available online and the things you need are quite easily available. Get a bright colored long skirt, a gypsy style shirt which has gathered and scooped neck, puffed sleeves which is either long wide flowing or gathered at the wrist, a front laced vest in vibrant colors, black leotard stockings, a sash for the waist again in bright color, black shoes, colorful bandana for the hair and you are almost ready to look like a gypsy. Accessorize your gypsy costume with gold hoop earring, long colorful bead necklaces and big bangles for the arms. If you don't have the time or the patience to assemble these piece by piece, you can browse through costume dealers' sites on the internets. There is a huge array of gypsy costumes you can select from. Since the costumes are quite free flowing and loose, you need not worry about the fitting. However the online costume stores provide them in desired fits and color combinations. When dressing up in a gypsy costume you can bring out all the heirloom jewelry, which on other occasions look old fashioned. Complete the gypsy costume image with crystal ball or tambourine or tarot cards. Adults can also have a dagger stuck into their waistband to complete the image. Men dressing in gypsy costumes too can wear jewelry and have a bright scarf around the neck or the waist. Trousers stuck into knee high boots with a peasant shirt and contrast colored vest is all you will need for a quick gypsy costume.
